Meet the Chef - Matt Dell
Matt started his career front of house working at the Two Bridges in Princetown, where he fell in love with the hospitality industry working under Chef Tim Bailey and being scared stiff of chefs! He moved around working and running venues before he decided to make the move into the kitchen. His first real taste of this was blagging a job in a cafe in Tavistock, where he taught himself how to cook, using old French and Italian cook books he’d buy from charity shops. After 4 years of training himself he moved to Rock Salt in Plymouth where he gained valuable knowledge from Chef Patron, Dave Jenkins.
After leaving Rock Salt, Matt found his way to Theatre Royal Plymouth. There were no vacancies in the Kitchen and he was happy to work front of house, but after one shift, Chef Chris offered him work in the kitchen. After working as Head Chef at TRP for 3 years, Matt worked at other popular venues in Plymouth to gain experience and to further himself more, moving to the Crowne Plaza as Senior Sous Chef, Kitley House as Head Chef, Boringdon Hall as Senior Brasserie Chef and has spent the last 18 months at The Plymstock Inn as Head Chef and General Manager.
“We hope to exploit the best in local produce and work closely with local Farmers and producers to create memorable experiences for our clients. We will be bringing you new offerings, changing the menu frequently and serving the best Sunday Roast on the Barbican. We have a common love of food and we hope to share that with you all soon”.
